Wow didnt't mean to stirr up beef. I honestly have nothing against you guys. Its pretty weird how someone doing them is upsetting to people. as long as your eating and taking care of your family do you. If you have customers that like ya production and so called more serious singers/rappers and you dont want cheap customers then why is it a big deal that we have our customers? I dont get it..

And to HoodRich We cover all of our cost just fine.. we sell exclusives on a regular and do custom tracks that cover us quite well.. For you to knock me it shows that maybe something in your business plan isn't working well enough for you...Our plan is working really good I'm a full time producer/engineer and so is my business partner.. The real way people get ahead is linking up and networking with each other to find bigger ways to eat.. not hate on each other. I wasnt going to reply to this post but i was kinda tired of seeing people bash what we are doing.. Just make HoT beats and people will buy if you put your time in..Period

We are far from lazy we probably work harder than half of you you who are complaining about what we are doing.

With the car example it was good but we don't have any production cost we own our studio outright.. everything we bring in is profit family..as far as advertising we have a different approach to that for right now..you would know that if you actually asked before assuming...

Good luck with all of your production ventures and businesses we hope you have much success..

My bad bruh, I didn't mean to be disrespectful and no beef either I just wanna put my honest opinion about that out there and sorry if im just too straight forward like that....that's just how I am. I have no reason to hate either, I am one of the producers with the best quality and some of the hottest productions out there. I mean, I even got Team Hitz hattin on my stuff cuz Im knockin them out the soundclick charts and I only work on a 2 ram laptop with a pair of headphones so everyone scared of me walkin in a pro studio just imagine what I could do in there.....

I get your point on "feeding the fam", i've been through alot of bullshit since my father was gone when I was 12 in 03. I kno how it feels to not eat for a whole week trying to save the last 0.50cents you have in your pocket to be able to get a water bottle the next week, That's where I come from LOL

But yea we all gotta do what we gotta do, I was just trying to show this guy his options with his prices but I guess you and I got a lil too personal about the subject lol, It's cool tho, we just a lil different and we just see things differently do to our past experiences.....

BUT STILL!!! LOL I AM A RAPPER MYSELF WITH PLENTY OF OTHER RAP FRIENDS, AND WE SERIOUS RAPPERS/SINGERS JUDGE PRODUCERS BY THEIR PRICES(first impression!)! SERIOUS ARTISTS NEVER BUY BEATS FOR UNDER 19.99 BELIEVE IT OR NOT! LIKE IT OR NOT! LOL

I still will disagree about the serious artist tho..lol we just produced a joint for a new upcoming rapper who is on tour with Lupe Fiasco and got a placement with Jim Jones.. along with other new upcoming songwriters.. You just can't deny Hottness no matter what the price is.

In addition to being a producer/recorder/mixer, i'm a qualified economist, and what's being said about devaluing the overall product is totally true. To have beats at $1 standard is a bit much considering that beats can be sold for $50,000 in the industry. What i think we need to do is:

1. Use prices like between $10 and lets say $30 or $40 as reasonable lease rates, with the lower limit being used for special discounts and promotions. We generally target independent artists (with the online side of our productions) and lower prices just comes with the territory.

2. We need to understand, and let people understand, what they are paying for at $10-$40. They are paying for a NON-EXCLUSIVE LICENCE. They are not "buying the beat". To me that in itself justifies the price. The beat still belongs wholly and soley to the producer. As a matter of fact, even with exclusives I think it's ridiculous to sell your rights to your intellectual property totally. Exclusive should simply mean that the beat will be used exclusively by the artist who pays the premium rate. If a major artist wants to buy my rights flat out i would only consider it if the fee is large enough to offset my potential royalty earnings from whatever song is being made.

Jus my thoughts

I understand where HoodRich is coming from I like that. Obviouly yall dont know about the economy yall need to read up on internet marketing and go to college for business because yall dont have to sell beats for .99 just to sell alot of beats. Producers on soundclick sell their beats for $20-25 per regular lease and they get hundreds of sells per day and hundreds of thousands of plays per month so uhh yall need to get on yall J.O.B.

thank you somebody finally gets it. It's pure stupidity to sell your full rights (exclusive rights) to your beats for $149.99 - $1000 thats ridiculous. Dont yall understand that your creations are very valuable and yall could make way more money getting royalties or selling your beats to major artist for tens of thousands of dollars.

We aren't doing it just to sell a lot of beats...but thanks.. How many beats have you sold for tens of thousands of dollars and with what major artist have you worked with?

99centbeats, I gotta agree with you here fam, I just recently came to realize how effed up this market actually is, i wasted most of my time trying to sell my leases for 19.99 lol, bottom line is, people want good affordable beats and not have to spend 60$ for 3 beats for their mixtape.

After changing my leases to a buck I have sold like 3-5 beats a day...and my new site only been up for like 2 weeks...

check it: www.cjbeatz.com

but I know I could be making more if I could just get more traffic to come in, any suggestions?

I already started to invest in some banner adverts around the net, but I need more exposure!
