I know all of us are tired of borke ass rappers. Especially the ones that only want free beats, or the ones that are doing rap as a hobby.

Where I live theyre a re a lot of wanna be rappers..go gag at me charging them even 25.00 for a lease. I ran to some on the internet that are the same.

It seems as if the younger generation aspire to be rappers...but soon as u charge them from a beat they say they are broke. WTF Its like we put our time and money in our crafts........and theres no excuse for you rappers....

I got my manager........I dont pay for beats..........Ill give u promo..all these lame excuses.

WTF......

Who besides me are tired of broke ass rappers? Please share your stories!

I see it all the time. These Artist CLAIM they are broke but they have on gold chains, gold teeth, drive a Benz and rap about all the money and women they have? WTF? And by the way they may be broke BUT they DO have $20 or $30 on their card, they just are NOT WILLING to pay for the beat because they have been SPOILED and CONDITIONED by 20,000 other producers giving sh@t out for free. If you go to a car dealership and ask for a FREE car, they will tell you to get the f@ck outta here. But if 100,000 dealerships give out FREE cars,…..EVERY car buyer in the world will ASK FOR and EXPECT a free car…….this is what f uped the beat market.

When artist say "I will use your beat for promotion only, not for profit". What they really mean is "I want to blow up off your beat for free and I do not VALUE beat." And my reply is that is NOT how this world works. The entire economy is based off of people EXCHANGING $$$ for product or service. To have food to eat, shelter, clothes, etc REQUIRES $$$ and these broke artist pay for those things but REFUSE to pay $$$ to further their " Music Career"

If an artist used your beat for promotion and did live shows, and they blew up and developed a fan base....they WILL get paid....eventually via live shows even if they never sale a unit. You in return will not get a dime in compensation.

If the artist does not blow up with your beat, they got to use your creation for absolutely free, they had no risk at all.
You know, artist should at LEAST be willing to spend SOME $$$ even to perform with your beat. Think about it.....shows like AMERICAN IDOL have to PAY $$$$ just to PERFORM COVER versions of other people's songs. It is part of Copyright law (The Right to Perform Publically). You CANNOT publically perform someone's song or beat without permission, that is infringement. That is why BMI and ASCAP exist…to collect $$$ just from the PERFORMANCE of a song or beat.

You to are right.. Producers are killing the game giving away beats. If they are smart, they will realize that if everyone charge like $25 for a beat they will have no choice to buy!

We all can be banking more now! But its a way to fix it! You got to network down freebeats when you talk to people.. this shit works. Telling them that the beat they use may be stolen and you cant do nothing with it. And that if you make it and dont have a receipt for that beat or a contract its a waste..

I usually tell people who ask for free beats that they are in it as a hobby.. you will be surprise on how many sells you get for telling people they are a piece of shit! Sad but wat the hell! LOL

I know yall have, but do you even pay attention when people ask lets come up together? Shit dont work!

I Deal With Broke Artists Daily, Usually Go Back and Forth With Them via Twitter. It Really Sucks That They Think They Can Freeball Their Way Into Fame. and It Would Be Nice If ALL Producers Charged One Price For Beats, But There Will Always Be Those Few That Can't Compete Either Cause They Beats Whack or They Only Care To Work Hard For Chump Change.

Don't get annoyed at these rappers, just realise they are in an early stage of their development where they won't realise they need to invest in themselves if they want other to invest in them. The later they are in their development as an artist, you'll realise that they're more willing to pay for beats. So best thing to do, is politely say that you don't give away free beats but keep in contact with them, give them some free advice on how to develop as an artist. It may take a week, month or year, but once they develop and are ready to see the value in paying for beats, they will most likely buy from you because you've been there throughout.

Which moves nicely to the most valuable point in beat selling....BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't....you're probably right

You right about building relationships, but the thing is most artist have the mentality to "hit and run" there are thousands of producers on google who offers 5 free beats or more with a simple sign up. If you say "No" to free beats they can go somewhere else.

On the other hand, many artist will value your opinion and will most likely buy when they get money. But the whole point is many have money but dont choose to spend on beats since they can get 4 albums free from different producers. 90% of artist can afford beats but they choose to spend money on things like $125 pair of jordans or $300 for an outfit.

But building relationships is the key. Just have to do it in away that you both will benefit. =) Just pros and cons with with everything.
