Start getting in touch with rappers, singers, bands, and emcees via social networks, and local concerts.

We just recently sold our first beat, and it was to a local artist we hadn't seen or spoken to since high-school. Got a hold of him on Facebook, and there is our first customer!

So just get out there, and start talking to people. The more you expose yourself the better off you'll be.

Unfortunately hot beats aren't enough to sell hot beats.

Just as with the BEST cooked burger by a normal person can't sell remotely close to a McDonalds or Burger King simply do to MARKETING.

So, you will have to market your beats and brand.

PROMOTION PROMOTION PROMOTION!!! This is your brand that we are talking about. Strategize different ways to approach customers both online and offline. Make flyers for yourself so when you are out places you can pass some out to people. Alot of people may not rap/sing/etc., but they may know someone that does. You may be able to link up with someone who needs music for their website. YOU NEVER KNOW!!! Make a ad in the classifieds section of your local paper. Make a ad on craigslist. Join alot of rap forums and gossip forums. Place your music player mostly everywhere too. Even people on myspace are still looking for beats everyday!! Hope this helps you!! Peace

All good advice guys, new here and haven't sold any beats yet but only producing a short while so i wanna learn as much as possible first then hopefully start making some money, but until then just glad to learn!

i appreciate this thread i too haven't sold any beats yet,soon to get my own website,just trying to market my self but mainly i just stay focus on my craft and making thousands of beats and then........flood the streetz and the internet

Okay, I'm going to spill the beans on the secret that all the top producers use...It's something they learned or some were just born with...It's not something you can go out and buy, it's called...Okay now pull up a chair, its called...don't look away from the screen...It's called GOOD WORK ETHICS...You gotta market, be professional and most importantly never give up...Customer service is also an important part, meaning always reply to the e-mails potential customers send you...And be personable, don't act like you big time when you really ain't...Don't act like you a newbie either, just be professional and consistent. It never hurts to keep adding new beats to your catalog, some people wanna make sure you serious about ya craft before they spend money with some producer they got in contact with online...Having 25 beats in ya catalog want cut it...They need to be left with the illusion that everyone hasn't already purchased ya beats...Plus 25 beats says small time or newbie. Well, I hope this has been some help to you, I too was once looking to make that first sale. Not saying I'm ballin off my beat sales, but I pay for my account here and the many others I have online with beat sales.
