Effect Plug-Ins 2 years, 4 months ago #17

Hey, anyone got some favourite FX plug-ins they want to share? I like The Finger by NI or Effectrics by Sugar Bites for making some interesting drum fx..

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm loving the SSL buss compressor demo - gonna have to buy it once my 14 days are up.

But what I'm getting at isn't what traditional-type (reverb, delay, etc.) effect plug-ins are good... what interesting new effect plug-ins are out there?

For example, Audio Damage Replicant does some weird chopping, stuttering and pitch-shifting effects.

I already mentioned The Finger and Effectrix, does anybody else know of any cool plug-ins?

I'm still not knowledgeable about how to set it - I just go by trial and error, but I like using the filter effect that came with Cubase SX on drums and percussion tracks, especially on hihats and other cymbals.

I'm not a Cubase man, so I can't help you there.. but just keep playing around with it until you get an effect you like, then try to figure out what you did. Eventually you'll get to know the plug-in inside out.

Thanks - One good thing about it is that I have a few different projects saved, so if I want to try to recreate a specific effect I've used in the past on a new project, I guess I can go back to the old one and have a look at the settings... Or start with the old one and then just build and save the new project from there.

Boston's own Matty Trump? Oh yeah, I remember the plug-in but I don't know what it was called. I doubt he'll remember, too many percocets, but I'll ask him.

Damn, my demo for the SSL buss compressor ran out and I don't have enough money to buy it

Plug-in I've been using is FATSO™ Jr./Sr. Analog Tape Simulator & Compressor. I got it as a gift luckily. It has a nice magnetic recording tape and some other features that have been improved from its former model.
