I recently got Logic Studio 9 - but it crashes on my every 5 minutes, I can't seem to make music on it! It's very unstable and unreliable - to the point I actually had to uninstall it and go back to Logic 8. Has anyone else had this problem???

Logic 9 is a gift and a curse.. such amazing software, but it doesn't work.

In fairness, the update came out the other day and even though Apple didn't say anything about the crashes my version definitely runs more reliably now.

Flex time, audio quantize, etc., are sick but I know there's a lot more to it that I still have to discover.

I'll keep running 9 now that it seems more stable, but I'll let you know how I get on with it - maybe you can re-install if the update keeps working smoothly.

Ok I will think about upgrading but the it was such a mission to uninstall that I really can't be bothered to go through the hassle if it's still going to be unreliable for me, we'll see though

I haven't used it, but I have a question: Are the problems strictly bugs with the new version, or is it more of a CPU hog and is it possible that's causing operating problems as well?

I can get into problems with my old computer running Cubase if I'm not selective about which and how many VST instruments are running.

I think it's bugs in the new version because I don't have this problem with Logic 8, it's just when I upgraded to Logic 9 and that's when everything started to go wrong. I think I will wait a while till I upgrade to be honest, i'm in no particular rush as 8 does the job for me.

That is the problem with slower computers, when you start racking up the channels on your software, your computer has a mental breakdown lol. That's why Mac's are so good because you can still have an old Mac but it keeps it speed over time, a lot longer than PC's do

keep it downgraded till u get a report that all bugs are fixed

To be honest, it is a bit of a CPU hog compared to Logic 8 and earlier, but that isn't the problem.

There are some serious bugs in Logic 9, although the update seems to have improved things considerably.

I'm struggling on with 9, but I would advise sticking to 8 for now unless you urgently need flex-time or one of the other new features. I'll try to keep you updated, if you'll excuse the pun...
